Running an assessment

Choose assessment content and scope

Choose the assessment content, appoint a lead and define what your organisation will review.

Updated 9 September 2026

Before you start

This guide is for an organisation administrator starting a full assessment. Decide what you will review. Choose who will lead the assessment and the period it will cover. Your workspace determines which content you can select. Being able to preview content does not give you access to every assessment or report feature.

Choose your content

  1. Open Assessments and select + Start new assessment.

  2. Enter an Assessment name that identifies the review and period. For example, use Annual AI governance review 2026.

  3. Choose an Assessor / team leader. The dialog offers administrators and editors who can lead the assessment.

  4. Review Assessment content. Choose one of the available options. Select Preview selected content (opens in a new tab) to inspect the questions before continuing.

  5. For SignalStamp AI Readiness, review Does the EU AI Act apply? and select AU + EU or AU only. The AU + EU option first asks questions to check whether EU controls apply. Answer these based on your organisation’s circumstances.

  6. Select Continue to setup → when the name, lead and content are correct.

Define a clear scope

Explain why you are doing the review and which period it covers. List the teams, systems and activities you will include. Also state what you will leave out and why.

For example, review AI use in customer support from 1 July to 30 June. Include the support team and its approved tools. Leave out product development because it has a separate review.

Record these details on the setup screen. If the app asks for missing information, complete it before continuing. Check that the selected content suits what you plan to review.

Check before answering questions

If an option is missing

Do not assume that every template or imported framework is available in every workspace. Check the content selector and your organisation’s access. If the app shows a subscription restriction, review it before continuing. If creation takes longer than expected, check the assessment list before trying again. This helps avoid duplicate assessments.
