Compare assessments over time
Choose a suitable baseline and explain changes between finalised assessment results.
Updated 9 September 2026
Before you start
You need access to a finalised report and a suitable earlier result. Comparison options depend on the assessment content and your organisation’s access. A benchmark also depends on eligibility and enough comparable data.
Open the comparison
Open Reports and select the assessment you want to review.
Select Compare assessments or Compare & benchmark, depending on the report.
Review the available baseline. Choose an earlier assessment when you want to measure your organisation’s progress.
Check the dates, scope and content before comparing the numbers.
Read the domain changes as well as the overall result. Check gate changes and evidence measures separately.
Choose a meaningful baseline
An earlier assessment shows change within your organisation. An industry benchmark is an aggregate comparison with other eligible results. These answer different questions.
If no suitable baseline is available, do not force a comparison with unrelated content. Review the current result on its own and establish a baseline for the next assessment.
Describe the change clearly
A change from 60% to 70% is an increase of 10 percentage points. It is not a 10% relative increase. Use the labels shown by the report.
Check whether the scope, evidence or method changed. A higher number alone does not explain why performance changed. Record the likely reasons and any limits to the comparison.
